A small family-owned winery specialising in Tasmanian organic wine on the banks of Tasmania’s D’Entrecasteaux Channel in the tiny hamlet of Flowerpot.

Brothers Matthew and Jonathan Hughes established Mewstone Vineyard in 2011 on the banks of Tasmania’s D’Entrecasteaux Channel in the tiny hamlet of Flowerpot. The small, boutique vineyard is a former cherry orchard and with some new plantings this year will expand to an ultimate size of just 3.5 hectares. The original plantings consist mostly of Pinot Noir with small plantings of Chardonnay, Syrah, Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc.

Whilst the Mewstone wines are strictly produced from the Flowerpot vineyard, the Hughes & Hughes range of wines brings together fruit sourced from around Tasmania, with the aim of producing wines that are high on both natural acidity and drinkability. In addition, from time to time individual small batches are released that capture the results of investigations into the use of skins, stalks, solids and other fermentation variables. All Hughes & Hughes wines are bottled unfined and with low sulphur.

The Mewstone Vineyard located in Flowerpot, Tasmania on the D’Entrecasteaux Channel produces quality fruit, hand pruned and picked to perfection.

Owners Matthew and Jonathan Hughes, also of Hughes and Hughes Wines purchased the property in 2010 and realised their first vintage under Mewstone Wines in 2016.

2H Pty Ltd were tasked with creating the ambitious project, with the interiors inspired by by the surrounding mountains and rivers.

Featuring concrete slabs sourced from a local factory and lightly polished, they highlight our Ceto Offset Single Wall Light in several prominent locations as well as the Ceto Horizontal Double Chandelier in a black glass and black anodised finish.

The project also features our Duet Stools, in a black stained Oak top and black powder coat base, perfect for perching on while sipping on one of their latest chardonnay, riesling, sauvignon blanc or syrah.
