Unveiled at the Melbourne Design Week 2024 show EQUILIBRIUM located at Le Space in Collingwood, Ross Gardam presented the new Volant luminaires as well as the Mass Table, a new addition to the Objects & Editions collection

The Mass Table explores the fundamental equilibrium of form and mass. The table represents a quiet experiment for the studio, intended to inform future production objects. An assemblage of natural and industrial forms with waste stone offcuts supplying a level of stasis to the objects.

The industrial forms are bead blasted then hand waxed to soften the aluminum. Each table features a different stone offcut, creating seven very distinct individual edition objects.

The new Volant Wall light and large format 55 and 66 Volant Chandeliers are a continuation of the Volant lighting collection, launched in Milan at Salone del Mobile in 2023. Featuring solid brass bars, paired with textured, tubular formed-glass elements, Volant in a statement luminaire. This delicate light creates an equilibrium between the different materials and offers a beautifully soft level of luminosity.

Continuing on from the existing Volant chandeliers, the new large format Volant 55 and 66 features circular arrayed bars created to make a dramatic statement in grand entryways, foyers and expansive voids.

Volant’s modular and architectural nature allow the fixture to span across a plethora of interior spaces. The solid brass bars are individually machined with the luminaire defined by a white glass diffuser which is pinned in-place to the solid brass bar. Textured tubular glass elements are balanced on the same pins creating a uniquely formed illumination.
